Operates ultrasound scanning equipment to produce records of designated portions of the human anatomy of infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED Requirements for Ultrasound Technologists Initial Qualifications * Certified or eligible for certification by: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Sonography (ARRT) (S). OR Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) When in Cardiac Departments only * All sonographers must obtain certification within twenty-four months of eligibility or cross training.) * Certified in Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or obtain within 90 days of employment Requirements for Sonographer or Mammography Technologist - Breast Ultrasound Initial Qualifications ARDMS certification and current registration, or ARRT post-primary certification and current registration in breast sonography, or ARRT certification and current registration and MQSA qualified AND 5 CEUs specific to breast ultrasound Certified in Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or obtain within 90 days of employment Continuing Experience Regular performance of breast ultrasound exams Continuing Education Registered Technologists * In compliance with the CE requirements of their certifying organization for the imaging modality in which they perform services * CE includes credits pertinent to the technologist's ACR accredited clinical practice
