X-Ray Technologist

The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time X-Ray Technologist / TH Medical Radiographer 1. The successful candidate will: * Perform diagnostic imaging including general x-ray, portables, fluoroscopy and all other applicable diagnostic exams. * Be familiar with all diagnostic equipment including portable and fluoroscopic equipment and the operating room. * Have the ability to produce high quality images efficiently regardless of volume. Performs exams in accordance with established protocols. * Demonstrate the ability to provide assistance to external and internal costumers, and provide excellent customer service. * Be responsible for patient care while performing imaging, to include accuracy of patient identification. * Be able to deal with emergent situations. * Maintain principle of ALARA. * Have the ability to teach House Staff or other personnel in the technical aspects of imaging equipment. * Have prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS. * Complete all exams immediately in RIS and verify on PACS. * Burn CD's and DVD's when necessary. * Have scheduling flexibility as hours may change on as needed basis according to departmental operating needs. * Adhere to all SUNY Downstate Medical Center and department policies and procedures, to include principle of behavior. * Adhere to hospital/ department infection control policies and procedures. * Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients. * Adhere to time and attendance policies. * Perform other tasks as required. Required Qualifications: * New York State Licensure. * ARRT registration. * Associate of Applied Science Degree or equivalent. * 2+ years experience in all diagnostic x-ray procedures. Preferred Qualifications: * Hospital experience preferred.
