Registered Nurse - Oncology


4 South Oncology is a 36 bed Oncology/GYN Surgical Unit with a patient population consisting of patients with solid tumors, hematologic oncology disorders, infections secondary to immunosuppression, anemia including adult Sickle Cell Anemia, gynecological disorders (surgical and medical), gynecological oncologic disorders, and patients receiving radium implants for cancer therapy. 4S Oncology provides services such as chemotherapy administration, post operative care, blood and blood product administration, palliative care, in-patient hospice care, diagnostics and patient and family education. # The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of care for a given patient population with the established standards and practices of Crouse Hospital.# This process is enacted through direct clinical practice, management of patient care and general professional duties. Required: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Degree program. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. If hired as a Graduate Nurse, a NYS limited licensure work permit must be obtained within ninety (90) days of graduation and the GN must successfully pass the NCLEX exam within 120 days of the beginning of employment to obtain the required professional nursing licensure with New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire or within 6 weeks after hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within one (1) year of the hire date, if deemed necessary for the position based on the scope of the assigned role.# Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.# Certification in a specialty area.
