Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterprise Nurse Coordinator Pre/Post Anesthesia HSS ASC of Manhattan Full-Time Overview: The Nurse Coordinator will support oversight of the clinical and operational functions of the HSS ASC of Manhattan. The candidate will serve as a clinical resource /expert in the pre/post care of the HSS patients. The Nurse Coordinator will be a change facilitator. Responsibilities include working with the Senior Director, surgeon and anesthesia teams and supporting hospital departments to set goals and objectives in accordance with HSS strategic initiatives, as well as planning, organizing, and monitoring day to day unit activities in the Department. The Nurse Coordinator will partner closely with the Senior Director with the fiscal responsibility for the unit, facilitating efficient and cost-effective daily operations. The Nurse Coordinator will assist with management and evaluation of unit performance and effectiveness of staff while establishing an environment where both staff and patients are able to reach their full potential. The Nurse Coordinator will coordinate and lead unit activities to assure optimal and appropriate care for all age groups in the unit specific population, consistent with the Mission Statement, philosophy and goals of The HSS ASC of Manhattan and the HSS enterprise. The Nurse Coordinator will support the Medical Leadership of the HSS ASC of Manhattan as a Member of the Medical Executive Committee and QAPI committee, to promote the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence, and quality and performance improvement and is critical to the mission and governance of the HSS ASC of Manhattan. The Nurse Coordinator understands the Magnet Program and culture; and integration of Magnet standards into the nursing department infrastructure. The Nurse Coordinator supports the shared governance model; maintains active engagement, facilitates staff involvement in shared governance and hospital wide committees to ensure ASC representation. Responsibilties: * Works collaboratively to develops and sustain constructive, effective working relationships with staff on unit, service and departments to achieve optimal quality of patient care. * Participates in providing, monitoring and evaluating the care provided to that targeted patient population through daily patient rounds. * Establishes and maintains a nursing care delivery system consistent with the overall philosophy and goals of the organization. * Establishes and meets deadlines such as staff evaluations, action plans, monthly staff meetings, schedules and interdisciplinary projects. * Maintains satisfactory attendance record. * Supports the shared governance model. Facilitates staff involvement in shared governance and hospital wide committees. Maintains active engagement in council membership, serves as a co-chair to a council and committees. Understands the Magnet Program and integration of Magnet standards into the nursing department infrastructure. * Supports clinical operations of the unit and department as needed, examples include assuming Charge nurse role, taking clinical assignments, and reviewing/ adjusting staff assignments. * Post minutes of staff meeting and other pertinent meeting monthly. Establishes regular communication with entire unit staff, i.e. at minimum monthly staff meetings, rounding and maintaining regular presence on off shift. * Collaborates with the team to coordinate the plan of care for all patients. * Review policies, post-op education material, pediatric education /medication for all clinical areas. * Maintains active engagement council memberships at site and hospital wide committees. * Collaborates with department leadership and Professional Development team to facilitate staff orientation and development. Assists with orientation coordination for new hires and training. * Works collaboratively with the department leadership to provide coverage for the unit. In absence, will provide coverage as needed. Partners with the department leadership and works in implementing operational policies and procedures, and ensure operational efficiencies. * Partners with department leadership and works in implementing operational policies and procedures and ensures operational efficiencies. This includes: completing /monitoring audits in collaboration with Clinicians, completing/monitoring Nursing Tracer and Environmental Tracer unit audits, utilizing the performance improvement model (Plan Do-Study-Act) to improve patient outcomes, developing quality management and performance improvement activities, and addressing areas of weakness and developing plans for improvement. * Utilizes the performance improvement model (Plan-Do-Study-Act) to improve patient outcomes. Develops and leads performance improvement activities (at least 1 per year) to address identified gaps, working in collaboration with the Patient Care Director and clinical staff. Completes /monitors NDNQI audits, unit specific audits that include Nursing, Environmental and clinical practice. * Understands the Magnet Program, culture and nursing principles. Supports nursing excellence and the integration of Magnet standards into the nursing and organizational infrastructure. * Assists with driving the Magnet Model components of transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge and innovations, and works to support projects addressing empirical outcomes. The nurse leader will participate in the culture of mentorship, succession planning, and drive professional development for themselves and their team. * Collaborates with Sr. Director to meet deadlines such as staff evaluations, action plans, monthly staff meetings, schedules and interdisciplinary projects. Qualifications Education * Required: Bachelors Nursing / BSN * Preferred: Masters, or currently enrolled in a Masters program * Certifications/Licensure - * Required: Registered Nurse License, BLS, ALS, PALS * Required: Certification in Med-Surg, or Orthopedics recognized by ANCC * Required: Certification in Nursing Specialty; recognized by ANCC Skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Strong customer service orientation * Strong clinical knowledge and experience Experience * 3 years of experience preferred Other Requirements #LI-Onsite Pay Range - Minimum USD $140,000.00/Yr. Pay Range - Maximum USD $152,000.00/Yr.
