Manager of Mission Control RN


Job Summary We are searching for a Manager of Mission Control - someone who likes the fast pace of critical care to join the Texas Children's Kangaroo Crew. In this position, you will have 24 hour accountability for the clinical, educational, administrative, and operational activities of the Mission Control team. You will work collaboratively with departmental leadership to ensure the transfer process, bed assignments and *9999 calls are processed correctly and efficiently. Think you've got what it takes? Responsibilities * Maintains competence of all aspects of Mission Control including the transfer process, bed control and *9999 * Provides supervision of Mission Control staff and assists in coordinating care needs during transport. Provides supervision of the Mission Control team to ensure efficient operations in the transfer process and management of beds. Serves as liaison between referring/accepting physicians, referring facilities, nursing staff, and ancillary departments. * Assists departmental leadership in the recruitment, orientation, and training of new staff. Monitors productivity and assures that staffing and resources are aligned with patient care and operational needs. Ensure development of staff. Conducts performance appraisals and participates in assessment of clinical competency. Observes, identifies and addresses human resource issues. * Participates in quality initiatives to develop and monitor outcomes for Mission Control. Establishes departmental quality metrics and customer service standards and training. Reviews customer service indicators and quality metrics. Monitors staff productivity and establishes performance standards. * Aligns departmental goals with organizational mission and strategic plan. Coordinates and collaborates with stakeholders to create collaborative work relationships that drive performance and quality outcomes in a timely and effective manner. * Responsible for cost-effective management of resources while ensuring department achieves patient care and operational goals. Collaborates with the management team to budget for expected levels of revenue and provide reporting on status and changes in revenue. Qualifications Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's unless approved for a medical or religious exemption * Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required * 5 years of experience in clinical nursing care required * Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) provided by the American Heart Association * RN License provided by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact * CCRN PED - Cert-Acute/CCRN Pediatric - American Association of Critical Care Nurses - HIGHLY PREFERRED * Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) provided by the American Heart Association - Preferred Company Profile Since 1954, Texas Children's has been leading the charge in patient care, education and research to accelerate health care for children and women around the world.
