Regional Travel Nurse RN

Regional Travel Nurse RN Position: Registered Nurse RN Location: Illinois Hours and shift: Full-Time SUMMARY: Our associates deliver a higher standard of medical and mental health care for an underserved population. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Timely and accurately assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to detained and committed patients. * Administer prescribed medication, treatments, and other tasks, as ordered by the practitioner. * Provide emergency first aid care when appropriate. * Check and record vital signs, peak flows, blood glucose checks, weight, and other diagnostic tests on-site, when appropriate. * Triage officer intake screenings for necessity and priority at sick call. * Record information in chronic clinic and outcome study documents. * Report reactions to treatments and medications, as well as changes in the patients' emotional or physical condition. * Provide patient education and discharge planning. * Record care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms. * Collaborate and coordinate multiple medical services for diagnosis and treatment as directed by the practitioner. * Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control precautions, as required. * Maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacology, including drug reaction/overdose. * Maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition. * Maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of social and behavioral sciences, particularly as applied to the correctional institutional setting. * Recommend improved procedures, equipment, and supplies to your supervisor. * Notify supervisor of medical or security incidents. * Participate in in-service education sessions. * Perform duties within the scope of practice mandated by state and local standards. * Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA practices as required by government agencies. * Work as site nurse to assist correctional facility in covering staffing shortages. * Report identified facility issues to your supervisor and implement a plan for resolution. * Acquire professional licensure as directed. * May be asked to train new hires and coworkers. * Responsible for acquiring and maintaining AIMM electronic Medical Records (EMR) Superuser status. * Always maintain professional attitude. * Work collaboratively and courteously with team members. * Assist the facility in covering staffing shortages. * Perform all other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS * RN with active nursing license in good standing within the state(s) in which services are to be provided. * 5+ years of nursing experience required. * 3+ years of relevant management or supervisor experience in healthcare, corrections, ICU, ER or Med/Surg environment preferred. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training required. * Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor certification; hands-on training preferred. * CCHP Certification preferred. * Knowledge of the RN and LPN scope of practice. * Strong Microsoft Office, Internet, and email skills. * Must be able to drive a motor vehicle.
