Nurse Manager - Med/Surg Job Description Education Requirements: Graduate of a school of Professional Nursing. Licensed in the state of Georgia as a Registered Nurse. Certification in Basic Life Support as required by policy. Experience: 3-5 years experience as staff nurse. Prefer 1 year experience as Assistant Nurse Manager. Required Skills: Must demonstrate outstanding leadership ability. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Must possess the ability to learn basic computer. Must demonstrate competency in basic nursing skills. Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace as essential functions of the job. Honesty and maintaining a professional composure are important aspects of the job. Physical Demands: Involves sitting, stooping, and walking. Good physical and mental health. Must be able to lift, bend, pull and push, using good body mechanics, without limitations. Supervises: All nursing personnel assigned to the unit. Supervised By: Director of Nursing Performance Standards: Organization Wide Maintains a professional image. Makes a conscientious effort to help maintain a clean, safe and secure environment. Assumes responsibility for institutional requirements. Customer Service Interpersonal skills Demonstrates pride in the organization. Strives to work well as a team member. Registered Nurse Core Utilizes the nursing process in planning or providing care for patients/residents ages (adolescent, adult and geriatric). Maintains safe environment for patients/residents, co-workers and self. Assumes responsibility for professional activities. Demonstrates effective leadership and organizational skills. Nurse Manager Med/Surg Supervises and oversees operations and functions of the Nursing Med/Surg#department.
