Title: RNII-Infection Control Nurse State Role Title: 49113 Hiring Range: $79,572 Minimum - Commensurate w/Experience Pay Band: 5 Agency: Dept Behavioral Health/Develop Location: Va Center for Behavioral Rehab Agency Website: https://vcbr.dbhds.virginia.gov/ Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties ~ $5,000 Sign on bonus for eligible RN's ~Shift Differential: Evening $5.50/Hour Weekday & $6.00/Hour Weekend Night $4.00/Hours Weekday & $7.00/Hour Weekend The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR), located in Burkeville, Virginia is recruiting for a RNII-Infection Control Nurse. VCBR is a behavioral treatment center recognized for securely housing and treating civilly committed sex offenders. VCBR provides recovery, opportunity and support to residents so they may safely return to their communities and is the only facility in the Commonwealth that provides such service. The RNII-Infection Control Nurse works under the supervision of the RN Manager II, upholding the professional image of the Nursing Department as a role model & mentor for other disciplines. Utilizing knowledge base & experience, the RN provides nursing care to SVP's maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment, using the least restrictive measures always necessary & upholds the rights & dignity of the residents & their families. To promote a safe and secure environment for staff and residents through monitoring and attempting to prevent the occurrence of communicable diseases by administering vaccines and education. Monitoring and reporting diseases and conditions as required. Utilizes evidence-based practices, consults the local health department and adheres to CDC guidelines. The successful incumbent will have the following KSA's and/or Competencies required to successfully perform the job duties. Effective communication both verbal & written. Ability to participate an interdisciplinary team. Ability to lead educational groups. Ability to assess, plan, implement, & evaluate resident care utilizing knowledge of pharmacology, sex offenders, and physical, psychological, & social needs of SVP's. Basic computer skills. Ability to apply knowledge to meet residents needs in the SVP program. Act as a resource person to communicate knowledge of the Infection Control to other disciplines, community groups, & schools of nursing. Walking and/or standing for up to eight (8) hours or more. Bending & lifting. Ability to use TOVA techniques. May be exposed to aggressive residents. Works shifts as needed; working overtime hours or shifts as required providing care. Minimum Qualifications ~ Virginia Registered Nurse license ~ Previous work experience in Infection Control Additional Considerations ~ Experience in a psychiatric, medical setting and/or correctional setting preferred.
