My mother of 85 years fell and fractured her hip. She was admitted there, in terrible pain, and had difficulty moving. It took me going to the Nursing director and file a complaint because I could not get them to move her off her back and she developed a decubitus. 3 days in a nurse was pulling my mother out of bed by her prosthetic arm to get her to a wheelchair. When my mother screamed in pain the nurse told her if she didn't like it, she can call her son to pick her up and take her out of the facility. The nursing staff would not do basic turning on my bed ridden mother. After, I had to call the nurses station multiple times asking them to please turn her off her back. I had to call multiple times daily to get their nurses and nursing assistants to do trivial nursing duties...ie turn her regularly, take her to the bathroom so she would not need to defecate on herself. Some of the staff became hostile, and offended because of my calls. I noticed her surgical wound getting red and brown discharge to the dressing. I asked the nurse to take appropriate measures and I was told she had no orders, she developed a massive infection in her surgical site, I had to intervene to get an infectious doctor involved to get treatment started. One nurse removed her arm IV dressing, it tore my mothers skin, instead of going slowly and being careful. Instead of putting an antibiotic cream or barrier to the wound, she placed a dry strips on an open wound. Several of the nursing assistants are rude and condescending, I asked one to please get my mother to the bathroom as she was going to defecate on herself, she ended up walking into another persons room and slammed the door on me as I was trying to speak to her from several feet away. I had to call APS and El Paso police to make a report of neglect, because after I left they took her into the shower and I believe were being rough, neglectful and causing her pain, as well as stepping on her foot as retaliation due to me.
