<h3>Assignment Overview</h3><ul><li>Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs</li><li>Hours: 36 hrs/wk</li><li>Start Date: Oct 26, 2026</li><li>Length: 13 weeks</li><li>Openings: 2</li></ul><h3>Description</h3><p>American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 1+ years of CVICU experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.</p><h3>Details</h3><ul><li>Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)</li><li>Patient population includes cardiac surgery (CABG, valve, CABG/valve), CAD (STEMI, NSTEMI, AFib w/ RVR, cardiogenic shock), vascular (peripheral bypasses, EVAR), and thoracic (VATS) diagnoses</li><li>Patient ratio of 1:2</li><li>Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:30-08:00</li><li>Every other weekend required</li><li>Floating required within specialty, sister units, and lower acuity units as needed</li><li>No pre-scheduled on-call required</li><li>Epic charting system experience preferred</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of consideration</li><li>Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only) required</li><li>Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience required</li><li>First-time travelers accepted with 2+ years of CVICU/open heart experience</li><li>Previous charge experience preferred</li><li>Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, and PICC line management</li><li>Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT, NT), and BiPAP/CPAP management preferred</li><li>Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips</li><li>Experience with CABG, IABP, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and post cardiac surgery care</li><li>Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition</li><li>Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and continuous IV sedation or paralytics preferred</li><li>Experience with ECMO and Impella preferred</li><li>CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version currently the only accepted vendor)</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><ul><li>Provide direct care to critically ill cardiac and post-surgical patients in a high-acuity ICU setting</li><li>Holidays required to be worked as scheduled</li><li>Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments with no restrictions</li><li>Locals residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise stated</li><li>Return travelers must have at least 6 months away from the health system before returning</li><li>Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler</li><li>Most contracts allow one extension, followed by a required 6-month break before returning to the same facility or unit</li><li>Maximum of 7 days RTO may be requested; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract</li><li>Compliance documents must be completed 5 days prior to start, with labs completed within 72 hours of contract signing</li></ul>
