 American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown position requiring at least 3 years of MS/Telemetry experience and the ability to manage drips and interpret telemetry strips.
 
 <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
 <ul><li>Acute care hospital setting with a 26-bed PCU/Stepdown unit</li><li>Medical/Surgical/PCU patient population; patients may present as critically ill with drips, invasive monitors, and respiratory support needs — no ICU on site, higher acuity patients are transferred out</li><li>Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–5</li><li>Nurse aides available on the unit at a 1:8 ratio, handling vitals, ADLs, I/Os, patient transfers, transports, and showers</li><li>Respiratory therapy staffed in-house 24/7; manages all respiratory equipment including continuous BiPAP/CPAP</li><li>Nurses are required to occasionally titrate drips including insulin, amiodarone, and norepinephrine (Levophed), with multiple drip protocols in use</li><li>Must be able to read and interpret telemetry; Mindray cardiac monitors used on the unit</li><li>Charge nurse takes a reduced patient assignment; travelers are not typically asked to step into the charge role</li><li>Charting system: TruBridge (Evident/CPSI)</li><li>12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)</li><li>Every other weekend required</li><li>May be included in the holiday rotation</li><li>No on-call or standby requirement</li><li>No floating requirement for RNs</li><li>1–2 days of on-unit orientation with a preceptor, based on individual needs</li><li>Mandatory online modules must be completed prior to starting on the floor; modules take approximately 20 hours to complete and will be assigned via email before the start of the assignment</li><li>Scheduling is not block-based; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in the permanent staff schedule</li><li>Navy blue scrubs required</li><li>First-time travelers are welcome to apply</li><li>This small community hospital has a broad scope of clinical capabilities and is currently working toward achieving Level IV Trauma Center designation</li></ul>
 
 <h2>Requirements</h2>
 <ul><li>Active NM or Compact RN license required</li><li>Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required</li><li>Minimum 3 years of MS/Telemetry experience required</li><li>PCU or Stepdown experience preferred</li><li>Ability to titrate drips required</li><li>Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required</li><li>Ability to manage and maintain intubated patients is a plus</li><li>LTAC experience is a plus</li></ul>

Opportunity:
RN - PCU Inpatient Stepdown

Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM 
• Every other weekend requirement with potential holiday rotation 
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3-5 on a 26-bed unit 
• Must complete mandatory modules prior to working (approximately 20 hours, with up to 6 hours billable) 
• 1-2 day orientation with preceptor depending on needs 
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA) 
• Minimum 3 years of Medical/Surgical-Telemetry experience required 
• PCU/Stepdown experience preferred, will accept first-time travelers 
• LTAC experience highly beneficial 
• Must be able to titrate drips including insulin, amiodarone, and levophed 
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips using Mindray cardiac monitors 
• Capability to maintain intubation preferred 
• Handle Medical/Surgical/PCU patients depending on competency level 
• Manage patients on drips with invasive monitors 
• No floating requirements, no call or standby requirements 
• Dress code requires navy blue scrubs 
• Charting system: TruBridge - Evident 
• Manager will attempt to accommodate schedule requests but flexibility required to fill gaps 
• Travelers typically not asked to step into charge role 
• BSN not required

Facility:
This acute care hospital offers more capabilities than typically expected for a smaller facility and is currently working toward achieving Level IV hospital status. The facility provides comprehensive medical services with 24/7 respiratory therapy support, in-house respiratory equipment management, and multiple drip protocols. The hospital maintains a progressive care unit within the medical/surgical department and transfers patients requiring higher acuity care to specialized facilities when needed.
