Opportunity:
RN - ICU

Job Details:
• Work 3-4 weekend shifts per month (Friday or Saturday nights) 
• Patient ratios of 1:2 for days, nights, and weekends 
• 24 hours of orientation required 
• Float as needed per census - if pulled to another ICU still maintain 2 patients, if pulled to telemetry unit only take 3 patients 
• Strong neuro experience required with neuro ICU experience documented in work history 
• 2+ years of recent ICU experience required 
• Previous travel experience required 
• Required certifications: NIHSS, ACLS, BLS 
• Epic charting system experience required 
• Must be located more than 75 miles from facility to qualify for travel rates 
• Adult patient population in 19-bed neuro ICU unit 
• Experience required with airway management, ventilated patients, arterial line management, dysrhythmias, central line management, IV drips, isolation precautions, computerized documentation, ABG interpretation, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressor titration, and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management 
• Experience needed with fempops, CEAs, post thoracic surgeries, post cranis, and neurosurgeries 
• Handle patient diagnoses including acute/subacute strokes, subdural hematomas, craniotomies, carotid procedures, seizures, meningitis, post-cardiac arrest, sepsis, respiratory failure, and multi-organ failure 
• Work with specialized equipment including extraventricular drains, lumbar drains, CRRT, Arctic Sun, ventilators, and BIS monitoring 
• Complete non-billable modules during orientation and annually

<h2>Job Description</h2>
 American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift ICU position requiring strong neuro expertise, NIHSS certification, and Kentucky or compact RN licensure.
 
 <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
 <ul><li>Work in the ICU at a hospital setting</li><li>Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, 19:00–07:00</li><li>Expectation to work 3–4 weekend night shifts per month (Friday or Saturday)</li><li>Patient ratios typically 1:1–2+</li><li>Neuro-focused patient population, including post-thoracic, post-craniotomy, and neurosurgical cases</li><li>Travelers may be required to float to different units</li><li>Airway management, mechanical ventilation, artline management, central line care, and IV drip titration involved</li><li>Utilizes the Epic EMR system</li><li>Responsibilities include advanced airway, hemodynamic monitoring, and neuro assessments</li><li>Must manage patients post-neurosurgery, vascular procedures, and with multiple organ failure</li><li>Annual and specialty-specific modules are required and completed during orientation</li><li>Backgrounds with explanation may be considered</li><li>Return staff must wait two years before reapplying as a traveler</li><li>First-time travelers are welcome to apply</li></ul>
 
 <h2>Requirements</h2>
 <ul><li>Active RN license in Kentucky or compact state required</li><li>BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required</li><li>Minimum 1.5 years of recent ICU experience with strong neuro background</li><li>Previous travel nurse experience required</li><li>Experience with management of ventilated patients, dysrhythmias, and multisystem organ dysfunction</li><li>Ability to interpret ABGs and manage continuous IV sedation and vasopressors</li><li>Must live more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for traveler status</li><li>Two professional references required for consideration</li></ul>
