<h3>Assignment Overview</h3><ul><li>Shift: Days, 5x8hrs</li><li>Hours: 40 hrs/wk</li><li>Start Date: Apr 20, 2026</li><li>Length: 13 weeks</li><li>Openings: 1</li></ul><h3>Description</h3><p>American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with at least 3 years of experience for an acute rehab unit position with a Med/Surg split at a hospital in the Hampton Roads, VA area.</p><h3>Details</h3><ul><li>23-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit with a Med/Surg split component</li><li>Patient population includes stroke, amputee, hip fracture, and general medical patients</li><li>Day shift, 8-hour shifts with rotating weekends</li><li>Support staff includes 2 rehab techs supporting the PT/OT/ST team, 1 PPS coordinator, 1 social worker, 2 referral liaisons, and 1 admin assistant</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Minimum 3 years of OT experience required; 5 years preferred</li><li>At least 1 year of travel experience required; 2 years preferred</li><li>Graduate of a Master's degree program or qualified Bachelor's degree program approved by ACOTE in collaboration with AOTA</li><li>Current, active OT state license — VA license in hand highly preferred; license required if applicable</li><li>Current BLS certification required</li><li>Experience working with adult and geriatric populations desirable</li><li>Acute care setting experience desirable</li><li>Proof of address and a supervisory reference required for consideration</li><li>Full SSN and DOB required for consideration</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><ul><li>Conduct initial assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide age-appropriate therapeutic interventions</li><li>Document patient care, progress, and continuing treatment needs in the electronic medical record</li><li>Provide patient and family education to support continued functional independence</li><li>Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team</li><li>Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including PT, OT, and ST colleagues</li><li>Pass/fail EKG test administered on the first day with 2 attempts allowed; study guides will be provided</li><li>Local candidates are accepted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates</li><li>Manager interviews candidates following clinical review, which may delay the offer process</li></ul>
