Very rarely floated during shift. I think I was only floated 1 time midshift.  Still has a small town hospital feel. I think of this place as my second home.  I have made several friends and I hope to come back here again in the future.

Great group of nurses. I had a valuable experience here. Management needs to work on teamwork/interaction between all staff levels. Also the cleanliness of the unit could improve. Watch for outdates.  Overall I had a great experience and meet some wonderful people.

<h3>Assignment Overview</h3><ul><li>Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs</li><li>Hours: 36 hrs/wk</li><li>Start Date: Oct 19, 2026</li><li>Length: 13 weeks</li><li>Openings: 1</li></ul><h3>Description</h3><p>American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for night shifts requiring at least 1 year of experience and prior travel experience, with a Michigan RN license</p><h3>Details</h3><ul><li>Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting, including a 10-bed Observation/ER overflow unit</li><li>Observation unit ratios are 1:6 at night and 1:5 during days, focused on rapid patient turnover and discharge readiness</li><li>Other Med/Surg units see a variety of medical patients with staffing ratios of 1:5-6 at night, occasionally flexing to 1:8 with LPN support</li><li>Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30</li><li>Every other weekend required</li><li>Floating required to other Med/Surg units, approximately once per week</li><li>Epic charting system preferred</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Active Michigan RN license required</li><li>BLS (AHA) certification required</li><li>Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required</li><li>Travel experience required; not recommended for first-time travelers unless recent Observation, Admission, or Short Stay Unit experience</li><li>ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred</li><li>Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management required</li><li>Central line blood draw and colostomy/ileostomy care preferred</li><li>Experience with cardiac drip management (no titration) and PCA required</li><li>Nasal cannula and oxygen administration skills required</li><li>Tracheostomy care and wound care/wound vac experience preferred</li><li>Telemetry monitoring experience preferred</li><li>Community hospital experience preferred</li><li>Comfortable working alongside RNs, LPNs, and Techs</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><ul><li>Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Med/Surg and Observation unit environment with rapid patient admission and discharge</li><li>Support and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, LPNs, and Techs</li><li>Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments</li><li>Holiday coverage required with no RTO approved for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day at this time</li><li>RTO limited to no more than 10 days</li><li>Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction</li><li>Previous Bronson travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year</li><li>Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration, with exemption requests submitted within 48 hours of signing</li></ul>
