 American Traveler is seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services &amp; Short Stay Observation Unit (ED &amp; SOU) with a CO or compact RN license and strong leadership background.
 
 <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
 <ul><li>Work on-site in a hospital setting overseeing both the Emergency Department and Short Stay Observation Unit</li><li>Full-time, interim to permanent opportunity</li><li>Presence and visibility required across all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays</li><li>Role includes both management and hands-on clinical support, stepping into clinical care as needed</li><li>Variable shift schedule</li><li>Oversight of daily operations for both the Emergency Department and Short Stay Observation Unit</li><li>Lead and mentor interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care</li><li>Collaborate closely with medical staff, nursing leadership, and ancillary departments</li><li>Responsible for budget, staffing, and resource allocation management</li><li>Drive quality, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives</li><li>Promote a supportive and engaged team culture</li><li>Occasional direct clinical coverage may be necessary in staffing shortages</li><li>On-site leadership presence required during all shifts</li></ul>
 
 <h2>Requirements</h2>
 <ul><li>Active CO or compact RN license required</li><li>Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related healthcare field required; Master's degree preferred</li><li>Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in emergency services or acute care, with at least 3 years in a leadership role</li><li>Current ACLS and PALS certifications required</li><li>Nurse Executive Board Certification (NEBC), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), or equivalent certification preferred</li><li>Strong clinical, regulatory, and emergency care best practices knowledge</li></ul>

Job Details:
• Full-time position working Monday through Friday with varied schedules 
• On-call responsibilities every 3 weeks 
• Limited weekend call may be required depending on shift schedule 
• Work primarily in Cath Lab environment 
• Greet patients and verify correct patient information including name, DOB, exam type, and diagnosis 
• Confirm doctor's orders prior to performing exams or procedures 
• Ensure accuracy in all procedures and documentation in EMR and PACS systems 
• Maintain proficiency in 2D Doppler, Color Flow Doppler, M-Mode techniques 
• Perform Transesophageal Echocardiography with 3D capabilities 
• Conduct Echo Enhancement (Definity) studies, Bubble Studies, and Stress Echocardiography 
• Clean all equipment and surrounding environment after every exam 
• Restock supplies as needed 
• Work collaboratively within supportive team environment 
• Educate peers, caregivers, and students when appropriate 
• High school diploma or equivalent required 
• Associates or bachelor's degree preferred 
• Current ARDMS or CCI registration required 
• BLS certification required
