It took a bit to get used to how this hospital does things but once I got settled in I had a great time overall.  My fellow travelers were awesome and the perm staff were very nice to me as well.  The hospital could use a few improvements but I liked that it was a smaller OR and had a nice balance of busy and slow days for 3-11 shift. Most doctors were very nice and personally I never got yelled at

Biggest drawbacks in ICU - 
1) Cerner has been handicapped. You have to chart everything individually every time. They expect every Cerner box under neuro to be filled out if hourly neuros are ordered—not allowed to use “WDL” or “WDL except,” which adds A LOT to your workload when you can’t copy your charting.
2) you have to have a second nurse verify every SQ insulin and SQ heparin. It can be hard to dons another nurse.
3) float to tele often. The tele floors weren’t bad at all, though.

The staff members were nice, though!

      <p>American Traveler is seeking a Cath Lab/IR Technologist with at least 2 years of cath lab experience for a 13-week acute care contract requiring ARRT, BLS, ACLS, and Fluoroscopy certifications.</p>
      
            <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
            <ul><li>Acute care hospital setting in a combined Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology (IR) unit with 3 suites</li><li>Common procedures include left and right heart catheterization (diagnostic and interventional), EP studies, pacemaker and defibrillator implants, and IR procedures such as PICC line placements, central lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, and pleurovacs</li><li>Average of 8–10 cases per day</li><li>EMR system: Meditech; GE MacLab hemodynamic system used</li><li>10-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM</li><li>Every other weekend (EOW) call required — two weekends per month, 24-hour call from 6:30 AM to 6:30 AM</li><li>Evening call required 1–2 times per week after the day shift ends (approximately 5:00 PM); 30-minute response time required</li><li>No floating required</li><li>Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday</li><li>Orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit</li><li>Scrubs are provided</li><li>Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered</li></ul>
          
      <h2>Requirements</h2>
      <ul><li>Minimum 2 years of cath lab experience required; IR experience preferred</li><li>Active ARRT (R), BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and Fluoroscopy certifications required — pending certifications not accepted</li><li>Scrubbing experience required</li><li>State or compact (NLC) license required if applicable — active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted</li><li>Driver's license required for consideration</li><li>2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire</li><li>Prior travel experience preferred</li></ul>
