Unlock your potential!Job Summary and Qualifications<ul><li>Performs radiological diagnostic procedures, applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology. </li></ul><ul><li>Prepares patient for the procedure, gathering relevant information for documentation &amp; scanning. (orders, questionnaires, consents) </li></ul><ul><li>Operates diagnostic equipment safely maintaining awareness of ALARA standards while performing procedures. </li></ul><ul><li>Performs radiological diagnostic procedures, applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology. </li></ul><ul><li>Is aware and practices procedures consistent with Radiation Right protocols to include Radiation monitoring of equipment and exposure documentation. </li></ul><ul><li>Practices radiation safety in radiography of patients.(Assessment of LMP, Shielding and Lowest exposure doses) </li></ul><ul><li>Evaluates images for optimal technical quality prior to sending to PACS. Is proficient in all PACS and digital imaging applications to include CR. Reviews studies as needed with the Radiologist to determine any need for additional imaging.  </li></ul><ul><li>Prepares radiographic rooms with the necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure.  </li></ul><ul><li>Assists physicians with diagnostic &amp; therapeutic procedures. </li></ul><ul><li>Administers contrast media, as required &amp; performs eMAR functions, as necessary. </li></ul><ul><li>Performs quality control procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations to maintain quality and safety standards. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintains established departmental policies/procedures, objectives, performance improvement measures, safety, environmental and infection control standards. </li></ul><ul><li>Participate in the Patient Satisfaction Survey process. </li></ul><ul><li>Performs Time Out procedure as necessary. </li></ul><ul><li>Performs Medication Reconciliation, as needed. </li></ul><ul><li>Performs patient assessments, obtaining pertinent patient information and history. </li></ul><ul><li>Assists with patient transport and transfer as needed, assuring patient comfort &amp; safety at all times.  </li></ul><ul><li>Provides patient and family education, as necessary. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintains orderly &amp; clean work area. Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis. </li></ul><ul><li>Performs clerical, reception and scheduling duties, as necessary. </li></ul><ul><li>Operates Meditech, other computers, printers &amp; copiers with proficiency.  </li></ul><ul><li>Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature and in-services to meet the continuing education requirements of the ARRT or other professional organizations. </li></ul><ul><li>Attends and participates in departmental and hospital wide meetings, as designated. </li></ul><ul><li>Establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments and the medical staff. Follows Standards of Behavior. </li></ul><ul><li>Able to access MSDS sheets. </li></ul><ul><li>Performs other related duties as assigned or required. </li></ul>What qualifications you will need: Qualifications/Licensure/Certification/Registration/:  Required: Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). New graduates of accredited school of radiology must be registry eligible and obtain certification within first 3 months from start date of hire.  BLS Certified  Education:  Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.  Hours: Full time, combination of day and evening shiftsLewisGale Hospital-Alleghany is a 204-bed acute care facility in Low Moor, Virginia.
