Hired for the icu. Constantly floated to the 30+ bed step down/imcu unit. There is no rotation with other staff in floating. Staff constantly signed up for OT, bumping the agency nurse . The step down uni is extremely unorganized. Why do people assume a critical care nurse is comfortable taking on 5+ “med surg” pts at any given time. Becomes overwhelming . The staff is in no hurry to take an assignment from you when your shift ends . The chit chat and take report from you last constantly leaving shift late. Not a great culturally sensitive environment. Mostly Caucasian employees who aren’t cultured .
