Management relinquishes actual responsibility when it comes down to short staffing even though they have turned down multiple candidates. Would rather burden their surgical techs with training nurse externs whom have no surgical conscience, rather than train newly graduated but certified CSTs. Better yet students we won’t keep, neuro team is 2 faced, will act supportive towards you in group meetings, but will make you feel dumb for not knowing something on a personal level. Not enough general scrubs to be a trauma 1, cater to the RNs but honestly can’t say there’s much favoritism because anybody can go! But when spd, Pyxis, and housekeeping are short we have to do our jobs and theirs without incentive, no manager instead. Will freeze you over without warning, so hope you have a great support system with kids, will let neuro doctors get away with 20+ hour long cases, and urology with 5 rooms to 1 doctor. Each team lead only cares about their team not the pts, patient safety is not a priority, turn overs is, and it’s nasty. Dirty, because housekeepers are not housekeepers they sweep and mop and go home. But staff is very friendly once you pick a clique.
