Don’t work here unless you want PTSD!

Very unorganized. Supplies are scattered. Nurses have to take stuff to the labs and it is a long walk. Frequent trips to the pharmacy which again is a long walk. Most of the CNAs that I worked with stayed in the break room or you couldn’t find them. Supervisors knew it and said nothing. I got most of my own blood sugars and a lot of the vital signs. You have 7 very sick patients on day shift. You may have a heparin drip that you have to figure and titrate. You have patients with TPN, violent patients, rude and belligerent patients. There is no consideration for acuity. They use remote video monitoring for at risk patients rather than sitters. You get constant phone calls from doctors, lab, X-ray, pharmacy, remote sitters, tele, and family. Charge nurses are not very helpful due to having several patients of their own. It was rare that I got a break of any kind. I usually had to stay over an hour to chart everything for the day. There is no one to cover you for a lunch break. You have to stop what you are doing every day at 10 for a team meeting with administration regarding getting people discharged. I left crying after many shifts. I still makes me feel panicked when my vocera goes off at other jobs. I don’t even want to drive through the town because the experience was so bad.
