AWFUL time at this hospital and will not return for ANY amount offered. Worked 4FARR which is an ortho/med surg unit. Staff morale was terrible, CNAs refused to help do anything and threw a fit when they were asked to. Staff constantly wanted to trash each other to me in the breakroom. Nurse I was helping change a patient with called another staff member a bitch in front of the patient, then said it was fine because she was confused. Charge nurse would constantly give travelers the worst assignments, admitted to doing such because "you make more money, so you deserve harder patients". Staff made more than I did during the contract!! Would slam you with 5 total care patients, and I often finished my med pass at 1AM. They expected you to discharge two patients at 12AM, take 3 ED admits back-to-back with NO help. Staff would literally tell you NO if you asked for help with patient care. Never had California appropriate staffing, never had a break nurse or helper nurse. QC'd the glucometers for 13 weeks straight, re-stocked supplies while staff sat on their phones. No wipes were available since they kept getting flushed down the toilet and clogging the pipes, so hospital took them away, so we used wash clothes (and those were sometimes in short supply). Also, staff would never wash their hands as most hand sanitizers were broken or empty, and often soap was empty. Doctors at this hospital refused to take calls and only wanted to text. I called for a BG of 40 on an NPO patient with no hypoglycemia orders and NO doctor called me back!!! Actually on-call hospitalist cussed me out on the phone and called me incompetent in front of a patient. Staff reported they were all afraid to bring any issues to light due to managers retaliating and writing them up and threatening them with additional punitive action. Staff would corner me and tell me it was my job to "help and pick up shifts". Treated VIP patients like kings and neglected all patients. Had 3 other travelers work one day and quit the contract after. I have NO idea how I made it 13 weeks. Also, this is 1/10th of the crap that went on here!!! If you are taking a contract stay away from 4 FARR! Worked as a nurse throughout COVID and have never experienced anything like this.
