The unit manager and staff are extremely appreciative of the opportunity to work with travelers . The schedule is flexible and the management is consistent and considerate of preferences .

The unit is very busy . The help is overwhelmed. They need more help turning and ambulating patients .

So many pros: The CVICU staff are so friendly, helpful, and organized… from the supplies to their Epic charting. It’s probably one of the cleanest hospitals I’ve ever worked in!! The 3p shift can park in the garage and the elevator takes you right to the unit. Their cafeteria is open 24/7. Pay is usually very good. When you float, which they do as well, it’s only to the progressive side (across the hall) or to the CICU and their progressive side across their hall.

Cons: There is only 3p-3a shift or 3a-3p. The 3p shift is nice as far as having more daylight before work, especially in the winter, but 3a is tough! The orientation is TOO MUCH for travelers who do not get their benefits and already know how to start IV’s. CV nurses are assigned well over 60 eLearns!
