RN - NICU

Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts at 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM start times with no block scheduling allowed 
• Night shift position with every other weekend requirement, may need to work additional weekends 
• Required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays 
• Must float to Pediatrics and Postpartum units, including couplet care assignments 
• Pediatric ratios of 1:4, NICU ratios vary from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on patient acuity 
• Work in Level 3 NICU with 30 beds and average census of 22 patients 
• Care for patients ranging from 22 weeks to term, including high volume sepsis, respiratory cases, preemies, drug withdrawal babies, and syphilis babies 
• No neonatal surgeries performed at this facility 
• Must be comfortable working with surrogate mothers 
• Cerner EMR experience required 
• Complete all MyJourney modules prior to arrival 
• Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts 
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS 
• Navy blue scrubs required 
• Must have strong IV skills as there is no IV team 
• Interpret basic arrhythmias using Phillips monitors with consultation from NNP or MD 
• Work with specialized equipment including high frequency vents, Draeger, Nitric Oxide, Nava Ventilation, and Medifusion pumps transitioning to Alaris syringe pumps 
• No call responsibilities for travelers 
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

 American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU night shift position in California, requiring prior Cerner experience and strong IV skills.
 
 <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
 <ul><li>Work in a Level III NICU within an acute care hospital</li><li>30-bed NICU with an average census of 22</li><li>Patient population includes preterm infants from 22 weeks gestation to term, including high volume sepsis, respiratory cases, drug withdrawal, and syphilis</li><li>Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 in NICU and 1:4 in Peds</li><li>Night shift position with 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend and possible additional weekends</li><li>Required to float to Pediatrics and Postpartum units, including couplet care assignments</li><li>No block scheduling allowed</li><li>Cerner utilized for EMR, with HUGS security system and Breast Milk Bridge</li><li>Uses Phillips monitors; nurses responsible for arrhythmia interpretation</li><li>Specialized equipment includes high frequency ventilators, Draeger, Nitric Oxide, Nava Ventilation, and Medifusion/Alaris IV pumps</li><li>No ECMO; delivery nurse and RT present for high risk deliveries</li><li>Charge nurse on every shift; no nurse aides assigned</li><li>Staff are expected to manage a high volume and acuity of critically ill neonates in a busy unit</li><li>Nights and every other weekend are required; must be flexible to possibly work additional weekends</li><li>Required to complete all onboarding modules prior to arrival</li><li>Must pass dysrhythmia and sterile technique tests as part of initial orientation</li><li>Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 assigned shifts</li><li>Two of three major holidays must be worked</li><li>Navy blue scrubs are required</li><li>No call responsibilities for travelers</li><li>Must be comfortable working with surrogate parents and handling high risk situations</li><li>Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7</li><li>Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments</li></ul>

 <ul><li>Active CA RN license required at time of consideration</li><li>Minimum of 2 years recent NICU nursing experience</li><li>Current BLS (AHA), NRP, and PALS certifications required</li><li>Cerner EMR experience is required</li><li>Strong IV skills necessary</li><li>Must provide 2 professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years</li><li>Submission must include a copy of driver’s license</li><li>Must not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year</li></ul>
