I was there as a CT tech. It was my first travel assignment. 
I felt that the pay wasn't nearly as high as what it should have been for the location and I refused to extend or go back unless they increase the pay.
There were times I was left alone in the ER with no tech to assist me. It was less than ideal.for a first time traveler and for someone who had their CT license for less than a year.
The younger techs were always super helpful and nice. The older techs could be lazy and just watch you do all the work. 
When I was there they had 3 scanners travelers would work on. 1 new GE revolution scanner in the ER and 2 GE scanners for procedures and inpts.

CT Technologist

Work environment was awful. The staff on the NICU are extremely catty and cliquey. They are not even supportive to other staff nurses they work with. The unit is super small and you will see the culture reflect that. Night shift had a reputation for being bullies. 

Patient care was also very questionable. They are labeled as a level III NICU but they aren’t capable of caring for babies that are that sick. They don’t follow best practices when it comes to nursing standards. Babies will be stuck there for weeks when they could get better, higher quality care if they were to be referred out. Charge nurses on the unit lack the experience required for that role. 

Santa Barbara the city itself is wonderful. But you don’t need my review to tell you that. 

Don’t touch Cottage Hospital’s NICU with a 10 foot pole. Not if you care about your health, happiness, and nursing license ! Or the health of your patients!
