I have been working here for the last 15 months. Rations are NOT 1:2, but they ARE 1:2 IF YOU COME IN AS A NURSE FOR 4 DAYS FOR A STRIKE. If you are doing a 13 week assignment, you will have way bigger rations than 1:2. Normal rations for Postpartum (mothers/infants), Med Surge, etc. are 1:6+. Managers are not helpful, nor do they know how to help their nurses take care of patients. Ratios are ridiculous and assignments are rough (this hospital takes high risk/acuity patients). The nurses have striked twice and it will probably take years for the union to fully work its magic. They don't have appropriate differentials and PTO accrual. All the call systems are old. The equipment is outdated. New nurses are having orientation cut by 4 weeks and then training other new nurses. Safety is not a priority in this hospital, but the nurses try.
