Nurses are overworked and underpaid. Ratio can reach 1:7 at times. Tend to overwhelm newer staff and travelers with unrealistic expectations while helping the longer term staff and people within their inner circle by providing them with the assignment they prefer. Most of the staff are fun and friendly to be around but it is one of the worst cultures and work environments I have dealt with in over 8 years as an ER nurse. Expected to take level 2 patients with cardiac events and respiratory issues in the hallway without enough monitoring equipment to even safely monitor their the patient, while also having four rooms with similar patients at the same time. Sometimes given several psych patients as well as very sick medical patients to attend to without much help usually. Staff continue express their concerns and dislikes for the place, starting my first day of orientation. Definitely would never recommend. For the staffs sake, I hope the management will continue to improve. They started with zone nursing with the nursing teamwork approach which was terrible, but have started to do room assignments to encourage 1:4 ratio but tends to only stay that way half the time due to census and we are told that we just need to deal with it and flex to 1:5-1:6 or even 1:7 ratio. It’s unsafe for patients and staff.
