<h3>Assignment Overview</h3><ul><li>Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs</li><li>Hours: 36 hrs/wk</li><li>Start Date: Nov 23, 2026</li><li>Length: 13 weeks</li><li>Openings: 1</li></ul><h3>Description</h3><p>American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN with 2+ years of experience and an active NY license for a night shift position on a joint center of excellence unit.</p><h3>Details</h3><ul><li>34-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a joint center of excellence specializing in hip, knee, and shoulder replacements</li><li>Also treats general surgery cases (appendectomies, exploratory laps, hernias) and telemetry medical patients</li><li>Unique unit with wall suction capability, accepting all small bowel obstruction (SBO) cases</li><li>Patient population spans adolescents to elderly</li><li>Staffing ratio of 1:9 on all shifts</li><li>Care delivery model includes 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 PCT per 9 patients, with modified teams used when full teams are unavailable</li><li>Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)</li><li>Every other weekend (EOW) coverage required, either alternating weekends or 4 weekend shifts per month</li><li>Floating required to other Med/Surg units</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Active NY RN license required in hand</li><li>Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required</li><li>Minimum 2 years of RN experience required</li><li>Epic charting experience required</li><li>Previous charge nurse experience preferred</li><li>Community hospital experience preferred</li><li>Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration</li><li>Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and high flow nasal cannula</li><li>Experience with telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote) and dysrhythmia management/interpretation</li><li>Wound care/wound vac and ostomy management skills</li><li>Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><ul><li>Provide nursing care across orthopedic, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, plastics, and general surgical patient populations</li><li>Manage surgical drains and support post-operative recovery for joint replacement patients</li><li>Scrubs must be navy blue and/or white, in any combination</li><li>Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered</li><li>First-time travelers are welcome to apply</li><li>Returning staff must have at least 6 months since their last assignment, system-wide</li><li>Candidates with more than 10 days of requested time off (RTO) will not be considered</li></ul>
