ICU - Intensive Care Unit

I’ve been here for 9 months and they treat travel staff poorly. The corporate office only meets once a month to determine if they will renew contracts. When they renew they decrease compensation. There is a chronic low staffing issue here, because of location. While it is a large hospital it is still just a community hospital.

Medical Lab Technician

The 6th floor let me start with the best part of this entire unit is the nursing staff and some of the care aids. The rest of this floor is a free for all. This floor has no rules when it comes to reprimands for staff not doing the bare minimum’s of their jobs. The manager is unapproachable and very passive aggressive. She will nitpick on writing Morse fall scales on the white boards but doesn’t care if her staff is 3 nurses down! She refuses to help on the floor, even if you just clocked in and are getting 2 admissions. She will legit say “that sucks for you”.Supplies are scarce whether it be bedding or pt supplies, in 13 weeks I never saw the floors cleaned…. If it was not for a handful and a half of the nursing staff I would have been done. I night shift they have 4 core staff if that doesn’t tell you something about how it’s ran…..

6th Floor MSO

ED - Emergency Department

As a respiratory therapist you are extremely over worked and understaffed. There were staff members so burnt out they would try to use PTO. The problem with that means you are working alone with a NICU, 20+ bed ICU, and 7 floors. This is a rural hospital and you get a lot of the traumas that happen up there. In a hospital where there should at least be three therapist at night they only allow two. I had to work multiple nights alone.
