Overview

We are seeking a skilled Med/Tele/PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The RN will be responsible for delivering focused care to adult and geriatric patients with a variety of cardiac and medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to individuals in a stepdown unit, assessing patient needs and implementing care plans.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; able to read EKG strips independently.
• Titrate medications and manage intravenous (IV) drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, and Lasix.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and addressing concerns.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Assist with floating to different areas as needed to support unit needs, including PCU and medical-surgical units.
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and continuing education.

Qualifications

• Active RN license and a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Med/Tele/PCU setting.
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS required.
• Experience with telemonitoring and cardiac patient management.
• Familiarity with Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changes in patient needs.

Unit Details

• 32-bed stepdown unit with a nurse-patient ratio of 1:4-5, increasing to 5-6 patients on nights with potential PCU level care.
• Common patient diagnoses include cardiac conditions, pneumonia, sepsis, and acute on chronic conditions.
• Patient care techs available to assist with patient needs, operating at a ratio of 1:10.
• Day and night shifts available with a commitment to a rotating schedule.

Additional Information

Weekend and holiday shifts are required on an every other basis. Successful candidates must be comfortable floating to various departments as needed.

Any color scrubs are acceptable. Scrubs are not provided.
