Registered Nurse (RN) - Neurosurgical Unit

The neurosurgical unit offers exceptional opportunities to provide care for a diverse patient population. Join multidisciplinary teams specializing in brain tumors, spinal malformations, neuroendovascular, and epilepsy surgery. This mixed-acuity unit includes both floor-level care and an 8-bed high-acuity step-down unit for managing patients with complex needs who require hemodynamic and neurological monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Q1 neuro checks and monitor patients undergoing various neurosurgical interventions.
• Manage EVDs, lumbar drains, subdural drains, and arterial lines.
• Administer medications and drips including 3% NS and Cardene as per protocols.
• Provide post-operative care for procedures such as carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coiling/clips, and DBS insertion.
• Ensure effective seizure management for patients in the unit.

Requirements

• MUST HAVE stepdown or PCU experience.
• Current BLS and RN License (New York License ONLY).
• Minimum of two (2) years of high acuity stroke and neurosurgery nursing experience.
• Telemetry experience is required.
• ACLS certification is preferred.
• NIHSS certification is required.
