Description
Position Overview
Join our team as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for providing high-quality care to patients during labor and delivery, as well as antepartum and postpartum phases. This role requires a compassionate professional focused on delivering optimal outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Assignment Details
- Assignment Length: 13 or 26 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: Night shifts (3x12 hours or 4x12 hours)
- Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks, with the possibility of being called off for one 12-hour shift every two weeks
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
Qualifications
- Licensure: Must hold a valid Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a Labor and Delivery unit; first-time travelers are welcome
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Skills: Charge experience preferred; willing to train as a charge nurse
- Float Requirement: Ability to float to like units if needed
- Local Candidates: Not accepted; candidates must reside at least 50 miles away
Unit Information
The Labor and Delivery unit provides care for high-risk deliveries and includes:
- 10 OB Triage Rooms
- 10 Labor, Delivery, and Recovery Rooms
- 3 Operating Room Suites
- 4 PACU Rooms
On average, there are about 7 daily deliveries with the capacity to manage up to 14 patients, including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases. The OB Triage service averages 4-5 third trimester assessments daily, along with various triage patients.

About
Anchorage is a unique city surrounded by 5,000-foot-high peaks in the south-central part of Alaska along the Cook Inlet, where abundant salmon and whales swim through.
