Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care tailored to the age and needs of the patient population within the designated units. This role ensures that quality care is delivered efficiently and safely, aligning with the standards of care specific to the unit. The RN demonstrates performance consistent with the organization’s mission, philosophy, and goals while treating patients, families, and staff with respect and consideration.

Key Responsibilities

• Fulfill the competencies associated with leadership roles: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Conduct initial assessments and establish care priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Systematically re-assess patients to identify progress and trends necessitating intervention.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring they are measurable and in line with established nursing standards.
• Make informed nursing decisions by interpreting facts and evaluating patient outcomes; adjust care plans as necessary.
• Engage in health education for patients and their significant others while facilitating discharge planning.
• Implement and document timely interventions in response to patient needs.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan continuously.
• Perform various Point of Care testing procedures as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current knowledge and skills relevant to the patient population served.
• Familiarity with and sensitivity to patients’ rights in care delivery.
• Effective communication skills appropriate for the developmental age of patients.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current RN license in New Mexico or a Compact state license.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• ACLS Certification from the AHA required.
• PALS Certification from the AHA required.
• Current TNCC or ATCN Certification required.
• CPI/De-Escalation certification preferred.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with shifts from 11 AM to 11 PM, requiring availability for every other weekend. Floating to different units may be necessary during periods of low census.

Dress Code

Employees are expected to wear pewter or charcoal grey scrubs.
