Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. This role emphasizes the delivery of quality care in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with unit standards. The Registered Nurse demonstrates performance aligned with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization, while ensuring respectful and considerate treatment of staff, physicians, patients, and families.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Obtains and records initial assessments and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Systematically re-assesses patients to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
• Develops and implements a measurable individualized plan of care for patients within the established timeframe.
• Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on facts and evaluations of patient outcomes, modifying care plans as necessary.
• Participates in health education and discharge planning for patients and their significant others.
• Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care.
• Performs various Point of Care testing procedures.

Requirements

Education and Skills

• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served.
• Knowledgeable and sensitive to patients’ rights in the delivery of care.
• Effective communication skills, conveying information clearly and concisely based on the developmental age of the patient.

Experience

• Newly hired nurses with two or fewer years of experience as a Registered Nurse will be hired at a CN I status.
• Consideration for higher clinical ladder levels (II and III) based on years of relevant experience, professional nursing certification, and additional nursing education (e.g., B.S.N., MSN).

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
• Current BLS certification from AHA.
• Current ACLS certification from AHA.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM.
