This role offers the opportunity to work in a critical care stepdown unit, providing specialized care to patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the stepdown unit.
• Monitor and manage patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, post-heart catheterization, and respiratory failure.
• Perform post-procedure monitoring and frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks.
• Administer medications, including emergency medications and procedural sedation.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and cardiac telemetry.
• Initiate and maintain IVs, manage PICC lines, and administer blood products.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
• Ensure infection prevention and adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent stepdown experience.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• NIHSS certification required.
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management.
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care, and chest tube management.
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and manage cardiac drips.
• Experience with charting systems; Allscripts preferred.
• Strong professional skills in infection prevention and phlebotomy.
