Description

Join WCS Healthcare Partners as a Registered Nurse in the Stepdown Unit located in New Haven, CT. This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity environment at a Level I Trauma Center, providing critical care to patients transitioning from the Intensive Care Unit. New Haven offers a vibrant community with rich cultural experiences and a convenient location for exploring the greater New England area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care to patients in the Stepdown Unit with a typical patient ratio of 3:1.
  • Occasionally cover ICU assignments as needed and float to other units such as PCU and other ICUs.
  • Manage patients with acute respiratory failure, sepsis, liver/renal failure, post-cardiac arrest, and GI bleed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Utilize advanced skills in arterial line management, care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, and continuous IV sedation.
  • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias, and manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a high-acuity or trauma setting.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Experience with NIHSS is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using the Epic charting system is advantageous.
  • Ability to work weekends and float to different units as needed.
