Registered Nurse – Pediatric Psychiatric Unit

Contract Length: 12 Weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (36 or 48 Hours/Week)

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized nursing care for pediatric and adolescent behavioral health patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting. The ideal candidate will have strong pediatric psychiatric experience and be comfortable caring for patients with complex behavioral and medical needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
Provide direct nursing care to pediatric and adolescent patients ages 6–18 years.
Monitor and document patient conditions, behaviors, and treatment responses.
Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions as ordered.
Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams.
Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and support crisis intervention when needed.
Utilize de-escalation techniques and participate in behavioral management strategies.
Ensure compliance with facility policies, psychiatric nursing standards, and patient safety protocols.

Required Experience & Skills:

Recent Pediatric Psychiatric RN experience required.
Experience caring for patients with eating disorders and neurological disorders.
Knowledge of NG tubes, feeding tubes, IV infusions, and gastrointestinal care needs.
Experience with ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy) patient care.
Familiarity with behavioral health safety procedures, including patient restraints.
Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to adapt to varying patient acuity levels and unit assignments.

Patient Population:

Pediatric and adolescent patients (ages 6–18 years).
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:8.

Qualifications:

Active RN license.
BLS certification required.
Previous inpatient psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
Pediatric behavioral health experience required.
Compunnel Healthcare Job ID #11481503. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
