Job Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides comprehensive cardiopulmonary care to patients across multiple care settings. This role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of respiratory therapies while working collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Assess patient respiratory status and evaluate response to treatment
Develop, implement, and adjust respiratory care plans as part of the multidisciplinary team
Administer respiratory treatments and therapies as ordered by physicians
Communicate effectively with medical and nursing staff regarding patient condition and care needs
Educate patients and families on respiratory disease processes, interventions, and discharge instructions
Serve as a clinical resource, sharing knowledge with staff and students
Accept reassignment to other units as needed based on operational requirements
Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the electronic medical record system
Promote patient safety, quality care standards, and best clinical practices
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
Minimum of 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience
Active Illinois Respiratory Therapist license
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Ability to work night shifts
Preferred Skills & Competencies
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment
Effective communication and patient education abilities
Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR), preferably EPIC
Commitment to teamwork, adaptability, and professional excellence

Compunnel Healthcare Job ID #292613. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
