Shift: Day Shift
Hours: 3×12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Scheduling: Self-scheduling
Weekends: Every other weekend
Floating: Required within scope of practice
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care to adult and geriatric populations in a fast-paced acute care setting. This role supports a renal-focused med-surg unit and requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
Patient Population & Unit Details
Adult and Geriatric patients
Average patient ratio: 1:5–6
Average daily census: approximately 48 patients
Renal medical-surgical focus
Telemetry and cardiac monitoring support
Key Responsibilities
Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical patients
Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes
Administer medications, IV therapy, and blood products as ordered
Manage central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, surgical drains, and ostomies
Provide wound care, including wound vac management
Support pre- and post-hemodialysis patient care
Utilize telemetry monitoring and respond to rapid response or code events
Document care accurately using electronic medical records
Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
Experience with patient ratios of 1:6
Proficiency with Epic charting system
Preferred Qualifications
Community hospital experience
Telemetry experience
Renal medical-surgical experience
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and cardiac monitoring
Skills & Clinical Competencies
Telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring
Oxygen delivery systems, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC
IV initiation and maintenance
Central and peripheral line care
Medication administration (e.g., insulin, heparin, PCA)
Infection control and isolation precautions
Emergency response and rapid response team utilization
