Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Float Pool for a 13-week contract assignment. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care across multiple Medical-Surgical units based on staffing and patient care needs. The ideal candidate is flexible, adaptable, and confident in working with diverse patient populations while maintaining exceptional clinical standards.
This position offers the opportunity to expand your clinical expertise by working in a variety of Med-Surg settings and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical patients.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments according to established protocols.
Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and promptly communicate concerns to the healthcare team.
Float between designated Medical-Surgical units as assigned based on operational and patient care needs.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.
Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
Maintain compliance with infection prevention practices, patient safety initiatives, and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or eligibility to obtain licensure.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and time management skills.
Ability to adapt quickly to different units and patient populations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Float Pool experience.
Experience working in multiple acute care Medical-Surgical units.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
