Description

Job Summary

The PICU Registered Nurse provides highly specialized, critical care to pediatric patients with complex and life-threatening conditions. This role requires strong cardiac and PICU expertise, advanced clinical judgment, and the ability to work independently in a high-acuity pediatric intensive care environment without floating.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients

Manage complex cardiac and PICU patient populations

Perform continuous patient assessments and promptly respond to changes in condition

Administer medications, therapies, and treatments per physician orders and protocols

Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment

Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Adhere to all safety, infection control, and clinical compliance standards

Provide emotional support and education to patients and families

Required Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Minimum 5 years of recent cardiac experience

Minimum 5 years of straight PICU experience (no floating)

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
