Description
We're hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for a travel contract role at a hospital in Ashland, AL. Under the guidance of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you will assist patients in regaining skills needed for daily living through therapeutic activities and documentation. Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
- Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Active Alabama state license or ability to obtain required state licensure prior to start.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification from AHA or ARC.
- Experience working in a hospital setting preferred.
- Proficiency with occupational therapy tools, documentation systems, and adherence to healthcare regulations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Candidates must be open to a temp-to-perm arrangement; willing to consider permanent placement following the assignment.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist in the development and implementation of patient treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
- Conduct therapeutic activities and instruct patients and families in use of therapeutic equipment and home programs.
- Monitor and report patient progress, modifying treatment plans in consultation with the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of patient progress and treatments consistent with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- NBCOT certification and current state licensure as required.
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or ARC.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a healthcare team and adapt to diverse patient needs.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Previous hospital experience preferred but not required.
