Description

Make a meaningful difference as a travel OT supporting Home Health patients in Baltimore, MD. We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to assess and treat patients in their homes to improve functional independence and activities of daily living while gaining home health experience in a dynamic urban environment.


Minimum Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. (Master's minimum required per client.)
  • Active Maryland Occupational Therapy license required to start the assignment.
  • Current BLS certification from AHA or ARC may be required.
  • Home health experience required.
  • Experience using Homecare Homebase or similar home health electronic medical record required.
  • Ability to perform home assessments and recommend adaptive equipment and durable medical equipment.
  • Experience evaluating functional status, activities of daily living, and fine motor coordination for adult patients.
  • Preferred: strong communication skills and ability to collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Assignment Details

  • Facility Type: Home Health.
  • Shift Name: Days.
  • Shift Details: Days 0800-1700. (Client notes indicate 0830-1700 scheduling for visits.)
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours guaranteed on a 40 hour work week.
  • On Call/Weekend Requirement: No.
  • Coverage Area: Baltimore City; clinician will travel between patient homes within the service area and mileage is reimbursed between visits.
  • Required Certifications: Maryland OT license, BLS as applicable.
  • Education Requirement: Master’s degree required.

Inner Harbor is within the city and features the National Aquarium and waterfront promenades, approximately a 10-20 minute drive from many Baltimore City neighborhoods. Explore historic Fells Point and Federal Hill districts with cobblestone streets, restaurants, and nightlife within a short commute of central clinical sites. Patterson Park and Druid Hill Park offer large green spaces and recreational trails within city limits, both less than 30 minutes from central Baltimore neighborhoods. Day-trip options include Assateague Island National Seashore about 70 miles away for coastal recreation and Gunpowder Falls State Park roughly 20-30 miles north for hiking and paddling. Public transit access includes the Baltimore Light Rail and MTA bus network, providing commuter options for urban and suburban lifestyles.


Assignment Responsibilities


As the Occupational Therapist in Home Health you will assess and evaluate patient needs related to functional status, activities of daily living, fine motor coordination, and home safety. You will conduct home assessments, recommend adaptive equipment, document CMS-required assessments, coordinate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members, and record patient responses to treatment. The role requires adherence to state scope of practice and use of evidence-based interventions.

Maintain professional appearance with neat, clean scrubs. Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork. Follow all agency and regulatory documentation requirements. Travel between patient homes within the assigned coverage area and document mileage per policy.
