Description
Make a real difference as a travel Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Alexandria, VA at a hospital setting. You will assist patients recovering from injury or illness to improve mobility, function, and quality of life under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist. You will implement treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions and modalities, train patients and caregivers in safe mobility and equipment use, document progress, and participate in team conferences and quality improvement activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited educational program.
- Active Virginia PTA license required to start the assignment.
- BLS certification from AHA or ARC may be required.
- Experience assisting with therapeutic interventions such as gait training, balance, strengthening, joint mobility, and functional skills training in an acute or inpatient hospital setting is required.
- Experience using common PT modalities and equipment (whirlpool, hot/cold packs, ultrasound, TENS, therapeutic pool, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, wheelchairs/cushions) is required.
- Ability to document patient progress, provide patient and caregiver education, and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Uphold facility safety, infection control, and safe patient handling practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel contract experience preferred.
- Experience working in critical illness, rehabilitation, or medically complex inpatient populations preferred.
- Prior experience providing in-service education or leading quality improvement projects preferred.
Assignment Details
- Shift pattern: 5x8 day schedule.
- Position is located in Alexandria, VA at a hospital.
- Candidates may be expected to assist with patient transportation and use of facility therapy equipment.

Impacting Patient Care
