Description
Make a meaningful difference as a travel Occupational Therapist in Shelby, NC. This hospital-based role supports patients with injuries, illness, or disability to regain or improve daily living and work skills. The position involves acute care caseloads including post-operative care, neurologic conditions, and general medical debility.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Active NC state OT license required to start the assignment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from AHA or ARC prior to start.
- Minimum 1 year of acute care occupational therapy experience.
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record preferred.
- Ability to work with patient populations including post-op, neuro, COPD, and CHF.
- Willingness to float between nearby facilities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- First-time travelers accepted if they have prior acute care OT experience.
- Experience in trauma or high-acuity hospital settings is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in collaborative departmental culture.
Assignment Details
- Shift hours: 0800-1700.
- Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts typical with rotating weekends and holiday coverage; weekend rotation approximately 1 weekend every 4–6 weeks.
- Onboarding: Department orientation 4–5 days.
- May float between Cleveland and Kings Mountain service areas.
- Scrub color: Light Gray. Parking: Free.

Impacting Patient Care
This role contributes directly to patient recovery in a 142-bed acute care, Level III trauma hospital. Occupational therapy services support improved functional independence and discharge readiness across a varied acute medical and post-operative population. Clinicians will document care in EPIC and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
