Description

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for a travel contract at a skilled nursing facility in Fort Myers, FL. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you will assist patients in regaining skills for daily living through therapeutic activities and exercises. New graduates are welcome. Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in Florida required to start the assignment.
  • BLS certification from AHA or ARC may be required.
  • Experience providing direct patient care in skilled nursing, long-term care, or similar settings preferred.
  • Ability to assist in implementing individualized therapy plans, document patient progress, and communicate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working under the supervision of an OT in a skilled nursing or LTC environment.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic modalities, adaptive equipment, and activities of daily living (ADL) training.
  • Experience educating patients and families on home programs and safe transfer techniques.

Impacting Patient Care

Assist in implementing individualized therapy plans designed by the Occupational Therapist. Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises, activities, and treatments. Monitor patient progress and provide feedback to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Educate patients and families on therapeutic activities and care instructions. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes. Document patient progress and treatment interventions according to facility protocols. Maintain a safe environment during therapy sessions.
