Years of Experience? 2 years
Will Accept a First-time traveler? Yes
Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously a perm staff
Covid policy: Vaccine required, exemption process
Patient Types:
PCU/Critical care patients – ICU RN needed
AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, Heart caths, ACDF (Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion), etc. Not limited to CVA/TIA’s. We take Stepdown overflow. Same level of care.
Patient Ratios:
RN: 1:3
CNA: 1:9
Required Certifications:
BLS
ACLS
NIH
Skills required:
ICU RN; Titratable gtts: Cardene, Cardizem, insulin, heparin, neo, levophed. Any critical care gtt. We do not do TPA, that is in ICU only. Critical care experience, ISTAT, chest tube, traches, CSF (lumbar) drains, Peritoneal Dialysis, Insulin/Heparin gtts
Traveler will be required to PASS an EKG competency exam as part of compliance, prior to arrival (includes MedSurg RN)
Support on the Unit:
Charge nurse: may have patient assignment
Phlebotomy – in house
IV/VAT Team – available 7a-3p
RT – in house
Hospitalist available – in house
OT, PT, ST
Telemetry monitoring: cardiac monitors in each patient room that is connecting to space lab in nurse’s station.
Remote monitoring as backup
Nurse responsible for main monitoring and printing strips for each patient per shift.
Charting System/Equipment:
EMR: Meditech Expanse
IV Pumps: Alaris
Medication dispensing: Pyxis
Floating:
Units: Stepdown, ICU (Critical Care), Occasionally Medsurg with ratios of 1:5 (Days) and 1:6 (Nights)
Orientation:
Orientation given to WKP – Stroke unit, Stepdown and ICU
Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: every other
Will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week – this is mandatory
Night shift will be required to work a 5/2 schedule as illustrated below:
One group works EVERY Mon/Tues on the schedule creating a (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday week followed by working Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday the next) They work 5 on, 5 off, 2 on, 2 off
The other group work the opposite working EVERY Wed/Thurs (Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday then followed by Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat) They work 5 off, 5 on, 2 off, 2 on
Can we approve time off? 7 days
Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? No call
Holiday Expectations: yes, confirm rotation
