Outpatient Pharmacist – Unit Profile
Bassett Medical Center
Unit Summary
Bassett's Outpatient Pharmacy is a high-volume retail pharmacy that processes
approximately 200–300 prescriptions per day. Pharmacists provide prescription
verification and dispensing, patient counseling, technician oversight, and support all
aspects of retail pharmacy operations. The department utilizes Pioneer for pharmacy
workflow and Epic for patient demographics and insurance information. Candidates with
prior retail/outpatient pharmacy experience are preferred. No compounding, weekend,
holiday, or on-call responsibilities are required, allowing clinicians to focus on delivering
eicient, patient-centered outpatient pharmacy services.

Single primary work location (flexibility to support additional outpatient locations is
a plus)
Schedule
Pharmacy hours: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Eight-hour shifts scheduled within operating hours
No weekends
Closed on major holidays
No on-call requirements
Patient Volume
Approximately 200–300 prescriptions per day
Responsibilities
Verify and dispense outpatient prescriptions
Provide medication counseling and education to patients
Supervise and verify work completed by pharmacy technicians
Support all phases of retail pharmacy operations
Administer immunizations (preferred but not required)

No specialty focus
Systems
Pioneer – Pharmacy management system
Epic – Patient demographics, insurance information, and clinical review
Required Qualifications
Active New York Pharmacist License
Previous retail/outpatient pharmacy experience
Experience with prescription verification, dispensing, patient counseling, and
technician supervision
Preferred Qualifications
Immunization experience
Willingness to float to another outpatient pharmacy location if needed
Compounding
No sterile, hazardous, chemotherapy, or non-sterile compounding required
Orientation
One-day orientation with online education completed on the first day

patient-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient environment while
supervising pharmacy technicians and delivering exceptional customer service.
