DMCC - Acute Rehab Unit RN

Overview

• 13-week contract in Peoria, Illinois
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Unit has 29 beds
• Day shift: 7a-7:30p; night shift: 7p-7:30a
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• Strong Neuro skills
• Must provide the last four digits of SSN
• Must provide clinician middle initial
• Must provide requested time off
• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Unit Details

• Patient population includes Neuro, Neurosurgery, Amputations, multi-trauma, Cardiac, and complex medical patients with trachs only, no vents
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• RN titration of drips is not required
• Only heparin is used as a titratable or set-rate drip
• RN attendance at team conferences for acute inpatient rehab is required
• No charge nurses; house supervisors are present
• Nurse aides are on the unit with a 1:9/10 ratio
• PT/OT/ST are part of the rehab team
• Respiratory support includes CPAP/BiPAP only at night for sleep apnea, nasal cannula, and high-flow nasal cannula without heated high flow
• Floating is required to LTAC and med-surg; will not float to HAU unless trained
• Orientation includes 2 days of class orientation plus 2-3 days/nights with a preceptor, including QRP and rehab documentation training

Schedule and Policies

• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• 12 non-billable orientation hours
• Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation
• Call-off policy allows the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks without penalty
