CVOR Surg Tech

Overview

• Location: Martinsburg, West Virginia
• Contract Length: 13 weeks or longer
• Shift: Days, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week (shift details open; to be confirmed with the clinician closer to the start date)
• Start Dates: Late October to early January

Requirements

• CVOR Technologist with 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year.
• Surgical Technologist experience.
• Experience working with cardiac, thoracic, or vascular patients.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• One completed travel assignment.

Clinical Scope

• Cardiac surgery: CABG, valve repair/replacement (open and robotic), ECMO, transplant
• Thoracic surgery: Robotic, endoscopic, and open procedures, including lung resection, VATS, esophagostomy (open and robotic), POEM, hiatal hernia repair, mediport, EGD, and GI and respiratory stents
• Vascular surgery: Diagnostic angiography and percutaneous interventions, surgical endarterectomy, dialysis access management, AAA repair (open and endovascular), visceral arterial repair/intervention, and amputation
• Floating: May need to float within other OR services.
• Sterile processing: CST do not cover sterile processing.

Call and Coverage

• Mandatory call: one night per week and one weekend per month.
• Call response time: 30 minutes. Housing is available for on-call periods (at additional cost).
• Holiday call: Traveler will be inserted into holiday call as needed.
• Charge person is assigned each day in the OR.

Onboarding and Logistics

• Onboarding: At least one week at another location, then transition to the main campus once the unit is ready.
• Unit orientation: 1 week.
• Scrubs: Ceil blue surgical scrubs, provided by the hospital.
