ICU RN (MICU/Neuro ICU)

Overview

• Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours (7p-7a), 48 hours per week

Schedule

• Scheduling: 7pm-7am; preference scheduling, where staff can request shifts and the unit adjusts based on need; block scheduling is acceptable.
• Weekends: 3 weekend shifts per month (Saturday/Sunday), plus 1 Friday and 1 Monday per month, per a 4-week schedule.
• Holidays: Placed on holidays as needed, but not on every holiday.

Required Qualifications

• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required for NCCU, MICU, and SICU.
• ICU experience and critical care experience (listed as "Must have").

Unit Details

• Unit: ICU
• Beds: Neuro 20
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1
• Nurse aides: Available on the unit, at a 10:1 ratio.
• Charge nurse: Free charge nurse, not in staffing.
• Physician/APP coverage: Intensivist in house during the day, on call at night, with 24/7 APP coverage.
• Respiratory therapy: RT in the ICU 24/7. Equipment includes vents, BiPAP, high flow, and nasal cannula.
• Telemetry: Available, monitored from another floor (not on the unit).

Clinical Practice

• Common diagnoses: Stroke, dialysis, head bleeds, ventric/EVD, and neuro disorders requiring critical care.
• Titration: RNs are required to titrate drips.
• Common titratable drips: Levophed, phenylephrine, versed, paralytics, heparin, insulin, nicardipine, and vasopressin.

Submission Requirements

• Candidates may be submitted to only 1 position at a time across the health system.
• Driver's license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility.
• Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years.
• Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must have been gone for 2 years.

• Travel teams must be submitted together in 1 email.
• Only 2 candidates may be submitted per opening. If the position is at maximum, submissions will be held until a spot opens.

COVID-19 Vaccination

• COVID-19 vaccination is required. Fully vaccinated means 2 doses of Moderna or Pfizer, or 1 dose of J&J.
• Candidates seeking a medical or religious exemption must complete the appropriate exemption form and email it to the address on the form as soon as possible, since approval requires council review.
